Lawyers and human rights groups are calling on the UN to call the Quebec government to order and withdraw its bill enacting a Quebec constitution, on the grounds that it violates, in their view, a series of rights recognized in Canada and internationally. According to Professor Miriam Cohen, “the expectation is that this will prompt a response from the government and shed light on potential violations of international law, not just Canadian constitutional law.” The press conference was given by professors Miriam Cohen, Stéphane Beaulac, and Karine Millaire on Radio-Canada.
