Brief on international law and human rights issues raised by Bill 1 to the National Assembly

Professor Miriam Cohen, in collaboration with Julien-Manuel Desprès, a master's candidate and intern at the Canada Research Chair in Human Rights and International Reparative Justice and the Human Rights and International Justice Lab, contributed to the preliminary research and drafting of a brief submitted with Amnesty International Canada Francophone during the consultation on Bill 1.

This brief focuses on issues of international law and human rights protection raised by the bill. Amnesty International asserts that the Quebec government, through the bill, is failing in its fundamental responsibility to guarantee all human rights to anyone within its territory, which poses considerable risks to the protection of the rule of law in Quebec.
