The Chair publishes two new scientific papers

Professor Miriam Cohen, Canada Research Chair in Human Rights and International Reparative Justice, and Sarah-Michèle Vincent-Wright, doctoral student and scientific coordinator of the Chair, are pleased to announce the publication of two new scientific articles.

Conflict Resolution in Human Rights Cases: the Evolving Role of the Supreme Court of Canada

As part of the 5th World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ) Congress held in Bali, Indonesia in October 2022, Prof. Miriam Cohen and PhD student Sarah-Michèle Vincent-Wright participated in the 5th International Symposium of the Indonesian Constitutional Court on the theme of "Constitutional Court and Conflict Resolution". With the aim of promoting constitutional justice, they presented the role of the Supreme Court of Canada in resolving human rights disputes and balancing individual and collective rights, which was the subject of this publication.

Uma luz nas cinzas? Os mecanismos de justiça internacional e o restabelecimento do Estado de direito em tempos de guerra

This second scientific article, published in the Revista Jurídica da UFERSA, a legal journal in Brazil, addresses the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the global rule of law by offering an analysis of the different mechanisms of international justice applied in the context of this armed conflict.
